Pastel or earthy shades - gray, beige, marsh, and so on - are best combined with bright yellow, blue, light green or red jackets.

The age of the child also plays a role when choosing a snood. Snoods for young children are usually knitted from soft yarn in bright colors - blue, light blue and various combinations thereof. For teenage boys, more discreet and plain products made from thick knitwear, terry or cotton are suitable. A snood for a teenager does not have to be closed; it serves more of an aesthetic function than a children's snood, and therefore can have buttons, hooks, loops, fasten on the bias, and so on.
