• Moisten the eggs with water and cover generously with the husk. Can be rolled or applied by hand;
• Wrap each egg tightly with gauze or nylon, tie the ends with thread;
• Pour a glass of water into the pan, add a tablespoon of salt and pour in a bottle of brilliant green;
• Place eggs with shells in a saucepan. They must be completely hidden under water;
• Place over medium heat and bring to a boil. Cook for 7-10 minutes;
• Rinse under running water. Then remove the gauze and rinse again.

We dye eggs for Easter with turmeric, nettles or beets

You can paint eggs for Easter not only in onion skins.

Many people dye eggs with artificial dyes, which give the shells a bright color, but also color the egg itself. Harmless and original dyes can be found in your kitchen. Different combinations of products will give the eggs a unique shade.

Yellow eggs - turmeric, lemon zest or calendula flowers.

Orange eggs - chamomile infusion or orange zest.

Green eggs - spinach + nettle or birch leaves.

Purple eggs are violet flowers. (pour hot water over the violet flowers and leave. Soak the eggs in the solution overnight).

Lavender eggs - violet flowers + lemon juice.

Beige or brown eggs - walnut shells or ground coffee.

Pink eggs - cranberry or beet juice.

Burgundy eggs - grated beets.

Each of these dyes has an obvious advantage - it is natural, and therefore harmless. Of course, natural dyes are weaker than artificial ones, so painting eggs will take significantly more time.

How to prepare a coloring decoction:

• Pour cold water into a saucepan, add 1 tablespoon of 9% vinegar. Place the product there, which will be a natural dye. The more it is, the more saturated the color will be;
• Bring to a boil, turn off the heat, cover with a lid and let brew for 30-40 minutes;
• Place the eggs into the cooled broth. Bring to a boil over low heat. Cook for 15-30 minutes until desired shade;
• If you want a more intense color, leave the eggs in the broth for several hours or overnight.

How to paint eggs for Easter with patterns

There are a large number of ways to decorate eggs for Easter with a variety of patterns. Here are the recipes for the most popular ones.

Paint eggs speckled

To make an egg with an interesting speckled pattern, you need to use cereal.

• Roll a wet egg in rice, buckwheat or other cereal. The smoother the grains are, the clearer and neater the pattern will be. You can get creative in advance and glue the cereal to the wet shell in circles or waves;
• Wrap each egg tightly in gauze or nylon stocking and tie the edges tightly with thread;
• Boil eggs in any dye;
• Place under cold running water and carefully remove the gauze.

Eggs with natural patterns

A beautiful design on Easter eggs can be achieved using parsley and cilantro leaves or dill sprigs. You can experiment and cut out beautiful patterns on plain white paper. Lace fabric is also great.

• The technology is the same as in the previous version:
• Moisten an egg (white or light brown) with water and place pre-prepared leaves on it. The “stencil” can also be secured at the edges with tape. The main thing is that the outlines of the drawing are not damaged;
• Wrap each egg tightly with gauze or nylon;
• Place in a saucepan with a decoction of onion peels or other dye. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Reduce heat and cook for 35-40 minutes.
• Place under running cold water, remove the nylon.

"Cosmic" coloring of eggs for Easter


To achieve such an incredible design on chicken eggs, you will need artistic acrylic paints, a brush, water, a plastic bag, a paint palette (a regular lid will do), and a hairdryer.

• Apply paint onto the cellophane in a thin layer in a chaotic manner. To get the most beautiful shade, several paint colors can be pre-mixed in the palette. The paint should be liquid, but not too watery.
• We place the cellophane in the palm of our hand, place an egg (white) on it and carefully “hug” the shell with the bag. This way, only one side of the egg is painted. After this, take the egg by the clean side and unscrew the cellophane.
• Dry the colored egg with a hairdryer for about 1 minute. Then we do the same with the second side.

Wax pattern on eggs

You can get a real pysanka if you apply a pattern with wax to the shell.

• Take an already boiled egg and a burning candle;
• Using a match or toothpick, apply a pattern to the shell;
• Dip the egg into the container with paint. The water should not be hot, otherwise the wax will melt. Therefore, it is best to use artificial dye here;
• When the egg acquires the desired shade, carefully remove the wax or heat it a little on the candles and wash it.

Patterns on eggs with threads


A very simple and interesting way. You will only need threads - floss, wool, silk. It is better to take threads of saturated colors.

• Wrap each egg (only white ones will do) with threads in any format, like a cocoon. Combine colors as your imagination dictates;
• Add 1-2 tablespoons of vinegar and 1 tablespoon of salt per 1 liter of water to a pan of water. Cook for 15-30 minutes;
• Remove the threads and let the eggs cool.

"Silk" coloring of eggs for Easter


This is a rather fashionable, but difficult way to paint Easter eggs. It will require squares of fabric with designs or patterns. Old ties, scarves or belts will do.

• Choose a fabric (preferably natural silk, not chemically dyed synthetics);
• Wrap a white raw egg in a cloth (so that the front side is on the shell) and secure tightly with thread or elastic bands. You can additionally secure the egg on top with a nylon stocking or white cotton cloth;
• Cook in a saucepan for 15 minutes with the addition of 1-2 tablespoons of 9% vinegar.
• Cool the eggs and carefully remove the cloth. The pattern should appear as delicate contours on the shell.

Secret: a wet boiled egg can be wrapped in a colored thick paper napkin for your hands, and the edges can be discreetly glued with glue or tape.

Easter eggs in foil

Quite an original and festive option.

The recipe is simple: boil eggs and wrap in bright foil. Multi-colored foil, which is sold in office supply stores, is better suited.

Colorful eggs for Easter

To do this you will need artificial dyes, napkins, a sponge and pins.

The eggs should be alternately lowered with different sides into containers with dyes and the paint should be allowed to dry.

Paint eggs with nail polish

If you are a nail polish specialist, this method will suit you.

You need to drop a few drops of varnish into a plate with high edges, and then use a toothpick to form a pattern into which you will then immerse the boiled egg.

Decorating eggs with thermal film stickers

This is perhaps the most common option for decorating eggs for Easter. It captivates, of course, with its simplicity.

On the eve of Easter, large grocery supermarkets are starting to sell thermal stickers. There are a wide variety of patterns - flowers, faces of saints, butterflies, Gzhel and Khokhloma paintings.

Eggs can be applied to unpainted eggs, but they undoubtedly look more noble on shells painted with onion skins.

Apply a thermal sticker evenly to the boiled and colored egg;

Place the egg in a strainer and gently lower it into boiling water for just a few seconds;

As soon as the sticker sticks to the egg, carefully remove the egg and place it on a plate.
