Warm socks are knitted in different ways: with circular knitting needles using the Medjikluk method, on five needles, from the top or from the toe. There are options for sewn socks. The classic method is to knit socks on five knitting needles from a cuff made with an elastic band.

Knitting the cuff and top

If you decide to knit socks on 5 knitting needles according to the description, then you need to know that each craftswoman can have her own number of loops. It all depends on the size, type of yarn, knitting density, thread tension on the finger. To do this, you need to take measurements and knit a sample. Be guided not by the number of loops and rows, but by the width and height in centimeters.

For socks you will need:

  • Wool blend yarn - 100 grams of one color, for example, gray, and the remains of yarn of a different color, for example, blue. Do not use pure wool; the heels and toes on such a product will quickly wear off. The yarn should contain from 20 to 50% synthetics. Knitting children's socks on 5 knitting needles requires less yarn, 50-80 g.
  • A set of toe knitting needles. Of these, one knitting needle will be working, the other four will have loops.
  • Hook. It is useful for hiding the ends of the thread.

Knitting socks on 5 knitting needles begins with the cuff and has the following steps:

  1. Using blue yarn, cast on with a regular cross stitch. Their number will depend on the yarn chosen or your knitting density, but it should be a multiple of four.
  2. Distribute the stitches evenly across the four needles and form a circle.
  3. Knit 2x2 rib (knit 2, purl 2) for 3 rows. Do not break the thread, otherwise you will have to make knots.
  4. Change the thread to gray, knit 4 rows with an elastic band. Don't break the thread.
  5. Change the thread from gray to blue, knit 4 rows.
  6. Make 2 more stripes of gray and blue. Break the blue thread. You should get 5-7 cm. The height can be increased by tying knee socks, or, conversely, reduced as desired.

When the cuff is ready, knit a few more centimeters in the round with gray yarn in stockinette stitch. Here you can also change the height at your discretion. Many craftswomen do not use boring stockinette stitch, but patterns, for example, openwork stripes, braids, jacquard.

Heel pattern

The next stage of knitting will be the heel. Its diagram looks like this:

  1. First you need to untie the heel height. To do this, take stitches from two knitting needles (half stitches) and knit 6-10 rows in stockinette stitch using rotary knitting. To do this, knit these stitches, then turn the knitting over, purl them, turn them over and knit them again, etc. For children's or women's socks, 3-4 cm is enough, for men's socks you need to knit 4-5 cm.
  2. Conditionally divide the number of loops from which you knit the heel into 3 equal parts: one part will be the central one, and two outer ones. As you go through the next knit row, knit together one stitch from the far right and one from the center, and then one from the center and one from the far left. Conventionally, move these loops to the central part.
  3. Make the purl row in the same way.
  4. Repeat until you only have stitches left in the center section.

Main part

You get to the basics. It is knitted in the round using stockinette stitch and has the following algorithm:

  1. Knit the front row of the heel and pick up the loops on the side behind the edge stitches.
  2. Next, knit the reserved stitches from the two needles that were left untouched after the top part.
  3. Cast on a few more stitches from the side of the heel using edge stitches.
  4. Knit the heel stitches.
  5. If the number of loops turns out to be more than at the beginning, then make several gradual decreases.
  6. Continue knitting in the round, evenly distributing the stitches on four needles, to the beginning of the big toe, plus 1-5-2 cm. The length of the base depends on the size of the foot. Don't forget that socks can shrink after washing, so it's better to leave a centimeter in reserve.

If you don’t yet know how to knit the heel of a sock, then spiral knitting using a simple elastic band is a great way for you to get a warm, dimensionless product made from wool yarn. Master the alternation of knit and purl stitches: 2 knit and 2 purl (2x2); 5 knit and 5 purl (5x5).

After making a 2x2 elastic pattern, decide on the required shin coverage and the number of starting loops. Divide them into 4 equal parts. Cast on the required number of thread arches, place them on four double needles and work a 2x2 rib 3-4 cm high in the round. Now you will continue knitting the socks in a spiral.

Make 4 circles, but with 5x5 alternations. Having finished knitting on the fourth double needle, attach a piece of colored thread at the end of the row to mark an important point of work. At this point you will begin to offset the stitches for the spiral pattern. Work the next circle of rib, but move the pattern 1 stitch to the left.

Work 4 rounds and move the thread marker to the beginning of the current round. Move the elastic pattern to the left again by 1 thread. Knit further, looking at the finished sample. You should end up with a pipe-like fabric that will twist in a spiral shape.

Having knitted the product of the required size, make a toe:

On knitting needles Nos. 1 and 3, knit 2 stitches together;

On knitting needles No. 2 and 4, remove the second loop without knitting;

Knit the next one and pull the removed one through;

Work according to the pattern until the number of stitches in knitting is reduced to 8;

Pull the working thread through the remaining arms, pull the toe and cut the yarn;

- tuck the “tail” into the finished spiral sock.

Make a paired product according to the sample.

note: you will get a simple, spiral-shaped one, like the whole sock. This product is especially recommended for children: the length of the sole is dimensionless, and it only becomes small as the circumference of the shin increases.

Socks on 2 knitting needles: a simple knitting method

The second way to knit socks on knitting needles will quickly and easily help you cope with the task, but in this case you will end up with a sewn product. Start your work with a 2x2 elastic sample and use it to find out the girth of the shin and the desired length of the cast-on edge. Cast on the loops on 2 knitting needles connected with fishing line and make a fabric 4-6 cm high in straight and reverse rows.

Continue knitting the sock on 2 needles with knit stitches for approximately 22 rows (to the beginning of the heel). Select half of the work on the fishing line and knit it 12 rows in height. In the same knitted part of the fabric, mark a dozen central loops and begin to decrease the thread bows along the edges:

Knit 8 loops;

Knit 9 and 10 stitches together;

Work next 8 stitches;

Knit 2 loops together;

Knit the remaining loops.

Decrease the heel fabric in each row, reducing the number of side loops of the piece, until 8 thread arches remain. Place the edges of the resulting part of the product on the knitting needles and continue knitting the sock on 2 knitting needles until you bring the work to the toe. To form it, divide the knitting into 4 segments and knit a pair of adjacent loops together in each until there are 4 left on the knitting needles. Pull the toe and tighten its tip with a working thread. Make a joining seam. Make a paired product according to the sample.

Helpful advice: You can knit socks with a simple knitting pattern using alternating strips of different yarns. To enhance the wear resistance of the heel, the part can be made with two layers of thread.

Spring, like summer and autumn, will quickly fade into the past, and winter will come to visit again. Now you need to think about how to knit socks for beginners step by step on 5 and 2 knitting needles, because they will warm your feet well on frosty evenings.

Is knitting your hobby? Have you ever thought about knitting socks, but the fear of doing it wrong keeps stopping you? Believe me, your fears are unfounded. Be brave and create your first knitted item. You will remember the day when this happens for a long time.

Creative work involves the use of certain tools - knitting needles or a crochet hook. I recommend purchasing thin knitting needles to knit thick socks. To solve the problem you will need a high-quality thread. The ideal option is sock yarn consisting of wool and polyamide. This thread is not monotonous, so you get unusual and interesting patterns.

High-quality yarn is not afraid of washing and is resistant to wear. Therefore, knitted socks can be worn for several seasons without fear that a hole will appear in the heel or toe. Yarn is sold in small skeins. One skein is enough for one warm and beautiful pair of socks.

Methods for knitting socks on 5 knitting needles

First of all, I’ll tell you how to knit socks on 5 knitting needles. Let's take a closer look at the rules for tying the heel, forming an instep wedge and lowering the toe. This will help you master the basics of knitting.

  • To ensure that the sock fits correctly, make a trial version of stockinette stitch. This will allow you to count the number of loops in ten centimeters of knitting. Next, take a measuring tape and measure your ankle, heel height, length, and widest part of your foot.
  • By taking accurate measurements, you will find out the number of loops for knitting the cuff. The number of loops is always even, preferably a multiple of four. Then distribute the loops onto four knitting needles.
  • Continue knitting the cuff in the round using a 2 x 2 rib stitch, constantly alternating knit stitches with purl stitches. To decorate the socks, take a thread of a different color and make several colored stripes.
  • Having knitted the cuff of the required length, start knitting the heel. Continue knitting in stockinette stitch using stitches on 2 needles. For the sake of convenience, it is recommended to move them onto one knitting needle. The fabric should match the height of the heel.
  • Mentally divide the loops into three equal parts. Start shaping the heel from the wrong side. To do this, purl one side part, then the loops of the central part. Knit the last loop with the first loop of the second side part. It remains to complete the row of the second part.
  • Turn the work and repeat all the steps. Do this until you run out of loops on the side parts. This means the heel of the knitted sock is ready.
  • We continue to knit the sock in the round. Place the loops on the side of the heel. I always insert the needle into the last stitch and knit a knit stitch from it.
  • From the sides of the heel, cast on the required number of loops and distribute them on two knitting needles, adding loops from the central part. As a result, the number of loops on the knitting needles with which we knit the upper part will remain unchanged, and in the lower part their number will slightly increase.
  • In subsequent rows, begin forming a wedge, decreasing along the loop. To do this, knit two stitches together from the lower needles. You can do it through one row or in each row. Depends on the measurements.
  • Reducing the number of stitches, continue knitting in the round until the beginning of the thumb. All that remains is to form the toe. For these purposes, decrease two stitches on both sides in each row.
  • When four loops remain, cut the thread and pull it through them using a hook. I recommend fastening from the wrong side. One sock is ready. Knit the second one in a similar way.

Video tips and examples

At first glance, the knitting technique with 5 knitting needles may seem too complicated. But believe me, in reality this is not the case. With a little practice, you will get the hang of it and you will end up with excellent knitted socks.

Knitting socks on 2 knitting needles for beginners

If you are just mastering the art of knitting, you will need to acquire woolen threads, number two knitting needles, a set of pins and a measuring tape.

First of all, take your measurements. Measure your foot circumference and leg circumference at the ankle area as accurately as possible. This will allow you to determine the number of loops for knitting the elastic. Multiply the knitting density by the leg circumference, which is calculated in centimeters.

Knitting sock elements with two knitting needles is easy. They don't need to be sewn. First, knit the back of the product. Then the heel and sole are knitted to the toe. Lastly, the upper part, which during knitting is connected to the sole.

  1. On one knitting needle, cast on half the stitches to knit the cuff. The quantity depends on the knitting density, which is determined by the thickness of the thread and the number of knitting needles. This indicator is also influenced by previously taken measurements.
  2. We begin knitting the cuff with an elastic band, alternating knit and purl stitches. 7 centimeters is enough. Next, knit another 8 cm of fabric using stockinette stitch. The resulting element is the back of the product from the heel to the cuff.
  3. Knit the heel. On knit rows, knit every two stitches together. Do this after the first edge stitch and before the stitch that closes the row.
  4. Having reduced the number of stitches for the widow, we make additions by casting on a loop from the edge of the heel bevel at the end of the row. It is enough to insert the knitting needle by the outermost loop, grab the working thread and pull the resulting loop onto the knitting needle.
  5. Having brought the number of loops to the original indicator, stop casting. The knitted heel will be wedge-shaped. Then knit the sole with satin stitch to the base of the big toe.
  6. Knit the toe of the sock like the heel. Initially decreasing until the number of loops is halved. After the loop, increase.
  7. When the number of stitches returns to normal, continue knitting the upper part of the product. From the edge of the sole at the end of the rows, pick up loops.
  8. After knitting the top of the sock, finish the rib. When the cuff is ready, close the loops and secure the ends of the thread. The sock is ready. The second one is knitted in the same way.

How to crochet socks

Before crocheting socks, stock up on a skein of thread, a thin hook, scissors, and sewing accessories.

  • Crocheting a sock starts from the top. Cast on a chain of seventeen loops. Use the first two loops as a rise, then, using a single crochet, knit the first row using the remaining loops.
  • Knit with a single crochet, constantly catching the back thread of the stitches of the previous row. Knit until the length of the fabric reaches the circumference of your leg. Thirty rows is enough.
  • Fold the resulting fabric in half and connect it with a chain stitch. If you manage to make the seam correctly, after turning the finished stocking right side out, it will turn out to be almost invisible.
  • Single crochet around the bottom of the rib. You will get thirty loops. Grab both threads of the previous row. Five rows is plenty.
  • It's time to knit the heel. After completing the previous row, unfold the product and knit half the circle from the inside. Knit seven rows in the same way, catching only the back thread of the loop.
  • Count five stitches from the edge and skip them. Knit from the sixth stitch and knit five stitches. Then unfold the knitting, knit four loops, and knit the fifth with the nearest loop of the previous “five”.
  • Then knit in the same way until you have shortened the loops of both “fives”. The heel is ready. Next, we knit in a circle with the base element, capturing both threads of the loop.
  • Having knitted one row, start cutting off the stitches. On each side, knit two loops together. So go through three rows. Then knit in the round without reducing the number of stitches. 15 rows are enough.
  • Round the toe. Knit six rows with decreasing stitches. When 6 loops remain, turn the sock inside out, pull the circle together and tie it in a knot. All that remains is to cut the thread and make the second sock.

If you are afraid to take on such work right away, take a skein of thread and a hook, and practice using basic elements, including a single crochet.

It’s so nice to wear something you made with your own hands, but it’s doubly nice to create for others. I really love knitting. When I have a free minute, I pick up knitting needles. I learned to knit since childhood. Socks are the first item I knitted. I will share my knowledge with you.

Knitting socks on 5 knitting needles, master class for beginners

The sock consists of five parts:

  1. cuff,
  2. top part,
  3. heel,
  4. main part,
  5. toe

To knit socks we will need 5 knitting needles with a diameter of 2 - 2.5 mm. We take soft threads. We will need approximately two balls of 100 g each. If desired, you can add a thread of a different color.

Having mastered the technique of knitting socks on 5 knitting needles, you can try knitting them with 2 knitting needles, see the master class.

We cast on the knitting needles a number of loops that is a multiple of four, I cast on 64 loops (a multiple of four), and first measured the circumference of the foot with a centimeter.

We divide the cast-on loops into four knitting needles.

We connect the last loop of the fourth knitting needle and the first loop of the first knitting needle (using a hook or knitting needle), passing the remaining thread on the knitting needle.

We tie a knot.

Now we take the fifth knitting needle in our hands and knit the sock cuff in a circle.

I knitted it with an elastic pattern: two knit stitches, two purl stitches.

I like high elastic in my socks, so my cuff height is 9cm or 30 rows. For beauty, I knitted pink stripes four rows wide.

After the cuff, we knit the upper part of the sock with facial loops, grabbing the upper loop with a knitting needle.

Having knitted 4 cm or 15 rows, we proceed to knitting the heel. Here you can add a simple thread of the same color to the main thread. This is done so that the heel does not rub quickly and is stronger.

We proceed directly to knitting the heel. The width of the heel is equal to the number of loops on two knitting needles. In my case there are 32 loops. We connect the first and fourth knitting needles. We knit 16 rows with knit and purl stitches. This is the heel height.

We remove the first loop at the beginning of the row, and knit the last one with a purl loop. This is necessary to form a beautiful edge.

Now we will knit the lower part of the heel. Divide the number of loops by three. Moreover, there should be the same amount of loops on the sides, and as many as you like in the middle. We distribute the loops on three knitting needles. I have 11 loops on the side knitting needles, and 10 in the middle. We knit with facial loops: the first 11 and middle 9 loops. We knit the tenth stitch with a knit stitch, and then the first loop of the third knitting needle. Now we lower the tenth loop (i.e. we remove the loop from the knitting needle). We will get a chain.

The heel will be rounded. On the side knitting needles the loops will decrease because... We knit only the middle ones - ten loops. Unfold the knitting needles. We remove the first loop. We knit a row with purl loops. We knit the last loop of the second knitting needle and the first loop of the first knitting needle together with a purl loop. Turn the knitting needles over and knit the front row. We remove the first loop. At the end we lower the loop, as we have already done.

We knit this way until the loops on the side knitting needles run out.

We turn the sock, the elastic band is towards us and we knit a row with facial loops. Now we unfold the other side and collect loops from the formed sides of the sock. I had 11 stitches on my side needles, which means I have to cast on the same number of stitches now. We knit the cast-on loops not just with facial loops. We knit them with crossed loops (we take the loop not at the bottom, but at the top) so that holes do not form.

Now we knit the main part of the sock, periodically decreasing the loops if necessary. You can find out by trying on the sock. We make decreases in a row, one loop at a time, alternately on each knitting needle.

We knit the main part of the sock to the middle of the big toe.

Let's move on to knitting the toe. I have 44 stitches left. We will decrease stitches starting from the second needle. We knit the first eleven loops on the first knitting needle without changes. On the second knitting needle, having knitted eight loops, we knit the next two loops together behind the back walls. We knit the last loop of the knitting needle with a knitting loop and the first of the third knitting needle too. We knit the next two loops of the third knitting needle with a front loop behind the front walls. We knit with facial loops to the end of the knitting needle. We knit the fourth knitting needle in the same way, we knit the ninth and tenth loops together with a knit stitch behind the back walls and one knit stitch. In the future, the loops will decrease and you can knit the toe on only two knitting needles. Thus, a chain is formed on the sides of the sock. If we fold the sock in half, it can be clearly seen.

We continue to knit according to this pattern until there are only eight loops left on two knitting needles.

Using a hook, thread the thread through the remaining loops.

We tie a knot and hide it inside the sock.

Our sock is ready. All that remains is to knit the same one on the second leg.

Finished products can be lightly steamed with an iron, the threads and seams will straighten out, and the item will look more beautiful.

I will tell you how to knit socks on 5 knitting needles with a straight heel, horseshoe heel, round heel and boomerang heel in detail.

To knit children's socks you will need 1 skein of bright yarn, preferably acrylic or baby yarn. These are knitted with ANGORA RAM (100 g = 500 m) in 2 threads. I knit socks for adults from 100% wool (133-170 m per 100 g). For women's socks, 100 grams is enough, for men's socks it takes more (we take 2 skeins of 100 grams, see photo above). The thinner the knitting needles and the tighter you knit, the tighter the socks. Now I knit with needles No. 2.5.

How to knit socks with simple knitting needles.

To knit children's socks, we cast on 32 loops, women's socks - 40 loops, men's socks - 48 loops (the number of loops for woolen village (homemade) yarn or purchased yarn with a yardage of 130-170 m per 100 g). If the yarn is thinner, then there will be a different number of loops (more).

Distribute the stitches evenly across 4 needles. Thus, on each knitting needle it turned out: children's socks - 8 loops, women's socks - 10 loops, men's socks - 12 loops. We close the knitting in a circle. We knit with an elastic band 2*2 or 1*1, I like 2*2 better. We determine the length of the elastic arbitrarily: some people like low socks to wear in their boots, others like them long, almost to the knees (then you need more yarn). I knit both socks at once, on 10 knitting needles. I knitted an elastic band for one sock, I switched to other knitting needles and knitted exactly the same elastic band for the second.
I will tell you how to knit baby socks. The child is 2 years old. I cast on 33 loops and closed them into a circle. 32 loops left. There are 8 loops on each knitting needle. I knitted 27 rows with an elastic band 2*2. Now we knit in stockinette stitch so that the socks fit well on the leg, 5 rows. (For adults, knit 8-10 rows).

How to knit a heel on a toe with knitting needles, straight heel

We will knit the heel from half the stitches, on two knitting needles. We don't touch the rest for now. We knit the front loops in one direction, unfold the work, knit the purl loops. Don’t forget about the edge loops (we remove the first one, we knit the last one with the classic purl stitches, or with knit stitches, the main thing is the same ones to get a beautiful, even edge)! Using stockinette stitch we knit 10 rows for children's socks (for women's socks - 14-16 rows, for men's - 16-20 rows. If the instep of the leg is high, then 2-4 rows more). We divide these loops into 3 parts. For children's socks we knitted 16 heel loops, distributing them like this: 5+6 sole loops+5. (For women's 7+6+7=20, for men's 8+8+8=24.)

We continue to knit the heel. In the front row we make the first decreases. 4 knit, 2 knit together behind the front wall, 4 knit, 2 knit together behind the back wall. We turn the work around. We slip 1 loop onto the left needle, tighten the thread so that there are no holes. Purl 4, purl 2 together.

We turn the work around. Re-slip 1 loop, tighten the thread, knit 4, knit 2 together.

We turn the work around. We knit this way until there are 6 loops left on two knitting needles. (For men's socks there are 8 loops).

If you knit like me, on 10 needles, then it’s time to move on to another sock and knit exactly the same heel.

How to knit socks on 5 knitting needles. Continuation

We cast on loops from the heel edges. Ideally, you should get the same number of loops as you decreased. If there are more loops, this can be fixed. In the next rows, we will decrease one loop per row on each side until the required number of loops is obtained. If you have a high leg lift, then be sure to cast on more loops. The loops can be cast on both knit and purl. It will turn out beautiful in any case, I will show you in the photo.

purl loops were cast on from the heel edges of the sock

On the knitting needles now: 6 heel loops, cast on 5 loops along one edge of the heel, 16 loops, cast on 5 loops along the second edge of the heel. Now we knit 38 rows. If you need it longer, knit more rows. We will decrease evenly on 4 knitting needles, so that it makes no difference whether the sock is right or left. In each row on each knitting needle we knit the last 2 stitches together. So we knit until the end. We fasten the thread and hide it on the wrong side. Socks are ready!

When I knit socks for an adult, so as not to count many rows, I make a pattern in the middle.

Knitting pattern for socks

From 3 knit stitches we knit 3 knit stitches (“stars”):

We knit 3 knit stitches together, do not throw off the loop from the left knitting needle, yarn over and knit knits from it again. Now slip a loop off the left needle. Repeat the pattern after a few front rows. I do it every 5 rows, in the sixth, or every 4 rows in the fifth. There is no difference, the main thing is the same number of rows between the “stars”.

These socks were closed in a different way: on the 1st and 3rd knitting needles I decreased the last loops, and on the 2nd and 4th knitting needles - the first loops. It's called a tape toe.

Here is another option for using this pattern.

The socks are knitted from leftover yarn. Here, instead of an elastic band, I knitted “stars” in a checkerboard pattern.

How to knit socks with knitting needles in a beautiful pattern.

Nice socks?! A very simple pattern. Cast on a number of stitches that is a multiple of 4. We knit with an elastic band * knit 2, purl 2 * the required length (there are 15 rows here).

Let's start knitting the pattern. It consists of 5 rows.

1 row. *Knit 1 stitch as a knit stitch, knit 3*

2nd row. Face loops

3rd row. *Knit 1 stitch as a knit stitch, knit 3*

4 row. Facial

5 row. *1 knit stitch, 3 purl loops*

Again, knit the required length of the sock to the heel. How to knit such a sock heel is described above. The heel in the photo is straight, if desired, you can knit both a round one and a boomerang.

When the heel is knitted, we continue to knit the sock on 2 knitting needles according to the pattern, on the sole - in stockinette stitch.

We knit the toe of the sock using stockinette stitch. Close on both sides. The toe turned out to be ribbon.

Children's socks with oblique elastic.

Oblique elastic pattern

Since the rapport is 6 loops, I cast on 36 loops on two knitting needles with a double thread. First, 3 rows of elastic *knit 2, purl 2*. Then 12 rows with bias rib, 8 rows with rib *knit 2, purl 2*, 5 rows of garter stitch and knit the heel. Everything as usual. When I started the socks, I left 2 loops between decreases: one at the end of the knitting needle, the second at the beginning.

Beautiful socks, author Natalya Levina

I knit children's from 40 loops, 10 per knitting needle. For this knitting, you need to take thicker needles, not ordinary, thin ones.
I would like to note that these openwork socks are knitted much faster than usual. The heel is very strong, no additional thread is needed.
I knit socks for adults using a pattern of 48 stitches (12 per knitting needle). The heel is knitted the same way.

KNITTING SCHEME.

HOW TO KNIT SOCKS ON 2 SPOKES.

Men's or women's socks for wide feet. Wool socks. You will need wool yarn, approximately 100 g. If you plan to knit a tall elastic band, then more.

Cast on 49 stitches on needles No. 3. Knit 30 rows with knit 1 rib. on 1 purl. Mark the 25th loop (central) with a colored thread or marker.
In each front row, knit 5 loops from it (front, yarn over, front, yarn over, front). Knit purl rows according to the pattern. When there are 97 loops on the knitting needle (for size 37), knit 6 rows in garter stitch, i.e. all knit stitches. Run the sole on 13 loops (like a heel). Sew at the back.
Comment: Without finishing 6 stitches on the knitting needles, decrease the middle 3 stitches of the sole in each knitting pattern. row until one loop remains from the sole, and then do not sew with a needle, but connect with knitting needles, like a shawl border.
At the same time we make a decrease on the sides.

How to knit the heel of a sock with knitting needles.

I’m still bragging about my socks! YarnArt EVEREST yarn (200 g / 320 m, 70% acrylic, 30% wool) these socks came from one skein and I really liked the yarn: it does not fade, holds its shape, is warm, it is pleasant to knit from it. But! I couldn’t choose the color so that the socks would be the same, although I honestly tried.

How to knit socks with boomerang heels.

A beautiful heel, knitted like a boomerang heel. These socks are knitted from NAKO Tweed yarn 100 g = 260 m. 32 loops, knitting needles No. 2.5, child age 3 years.
How to knit the heel of a sock on knitting needles step by step. Heel boomerang.

First, divide the number of loops in half. We will knit on two of the 4 needles. Let me first explain how we will knit. It's simple, the main thing is to understand the meaning. We divide the number of loops into 3 parts, the middle part will always be knitted with stockinette stitch, and the two outer ones at the top of the heel will be knitted in short rows, adding yarn overs, and, on the contrary, adding loops at the bottom of the heel.

How to knit socks for children. The easy way.

For knitting you will need:

Yarn - any non-prickly yarn, preferably merino, 300 m / 100 grams. Only 50 grams.

Set of double needles number 3.

On one knitting needle No. 3 we cast on 44 loops

We knit with an elastic band * 1 knit, 1 purl * in a circle for 18 rows. Next we knit 4 rows in garter stitch.

Knit the heel of the sock.

To do this, we can knit loops with 3 and 4 needles on one needle in stockinette stitch in straight and reverse rows. In this case, the first (edge) loop is re-knitted without knitting, and the last one is knitted purl in a classic manner. So we knit 12 rows of 22 loops.

Next, we divide these 22 loops into 3 parts: 7, 8, 7. We knit only the central 8 loops like this: we knit 7 +7, and the 8th loop, together with the first loop of the third part of the front one, behind the back wall of the loops. We unfold the knitting, remove the first loop without knitting. We knit 6 loops, and we knit the last loop of the second part together with the first loop of the third part of the purl. We repeat the rows until the central 8 loops remain. The heel is tied.

We knit the central 8 loops in the front row with knit stitches, cast on 10 loops from the edge loops like this: we knit two loops with the front one, add a third from the hole between the loops and also knit the front one. We knit 22 loops (this is the top of the sock), and again we cast on 10 loops from the edge loops.

Raising the foot. Every row you need to decrease 3 loops from the sides. In the place indicated by the arrow, we decrease the outer loop from the knitting needles on which the heel was knitted. When positioned as in the photo, we knit the first loop of the front part with the last loop of the knitting needle on which the heel was knitted, together with the front one behind the front wall.

On the second side of the sock we decrease in the same way, but by knitting two loops together behind the back wall. We knit to the end of the row.

We knit the next row with knit stitches without decreases. Such decreases will need to be repeated 2 more times. There should be 11 loops on each knitting needle. (Same as at the very beginning.) Knit in the round for 20 rows.

How to knit the toe of a sock with knitting needles.

We make decreases in each row of 2 loops along the sides. (At the beginning of the 1st needle, knit 2 together behind the front wall, at the end of the 2nd knitting needle, knit 2 together behind the back wall. At the same time, we make the same decreases on the other side. At the beginning of the 3rd and at the end of the 4th knitting needles, until there will be 4 loops left. Pull the remaining loops by threading the thread through them using a hook.

Cut the thread, hide the ends on the wrong side. We wash our socks.

Beautiful socks with a semicircular heel (another way of knitting the heel, the so-called horseshoe heel).

Men's socks, size 27. You can clearly see where the 100 g skein of yarn ended. A detailed description of the knitting process is in the same article below.

Men's socks, foot size 43.

Yarn “Winter Comfort” 100 g = 220 m, 2 skeins, sock knitting needles No. 2.5.

I knitted 11 rows with an elastic band *knit 2, purl 2*.

Then 3 rows in garter stitch: 1 row with purl stitches, 2nd row with knit stitches, 3rd row with purl stitches again. To prevent a step from forming when moving from the purl row to the front row, we knit the last loop in the row of purl loops together with the broach raised after it.

3 rows in garter stitch.

11 rows according to scheme 1.

And repeat 3 rows in garter stitch, 5 rows in stockinette stitch, 3 rows in garter stitch.

Let's move on to the heel. We take loops on 1 and 4 knitting needles.

The toe on the left shows the front side of the heel, the toe on the right shows the reinforced heel from the inside.

It turns out that the heel can be: firstly, compacted, and secondly, tied in another way. Almost straight heel, only the line of the sole will not be clearly visible.

The heel seal is a good idea. We will compact it with a pattern:

Knit rows: all stitches are knit.

Purl rows: purl 1, remove 1 without knitting.

We knit the edge loops more tightly so that holes do not form when we later lift the loops from them.

Convex tracks are obtained on the front side (see photo above). Knit to the desired length. I need a high rise, I knitted 24 rows. The last row is the front row.

How to knit a heel on a toe with knitting needles. Step by step.

A horseshoe heel is knitted almost the same as a straight heel. Only in the straight heel, after we have tied two together, do we immediately turn the work, but here you need to knit another loop and then turn the work. You need to start from the middle of the heel, leaving the central 2-4 loops single.

If it's not clear, watch the video.

Now we will knit the pattern on the 2nd and 3rd needles, and on the 1st and 4th needles the heel in stockinette stitch. When we cast on loops from edge loops, we insert the knitting needle under both walls of the edge loop. We dial it tight. If the loops are raised freely, you can knit the first row crossed.

I got 14 loops on each side. Ideally, there should be the same number of loops on the knitting needles as you cast on, i.e. 48. We will use a wedge to decrease the extra loops. On 1 knitting needle we knit the penultimate 2 stitches together with a knit stitch tilted to the right, the last one with a knit stitch. On the 4th knitting needle: 1 knit, 2 knit together, tilted to the left. We make decreases through the row.

We make the drawing on the upper part of the sock according to the diagram

To make the pattern symmetrical, add one broach loop in the middle. It turned out on knitting needles 2 and 3 in total 25 loops.

We alternate the pattern according to the pattern with 3 rows of garter stitch and 5 rows of stockinette stitch. So we knit the desired length, approximately to the little finger. Before the toe, it is recommended to shorten the stocking stitch by two loops on both sides to make it more comfortable in shoes. That is, in a row of purl stitches, knit the first 2 and last 2 stitches. You can switch to knitting needles that are a little thinner. I knitted the entire sock with one knitting needle.

Toe.

We decrease the loops on both sides: on 1 knitting needle we knit the 2 penultimate loops together with a knit stitch tilted to the right, the last one with a knit stitch. On the 4th knitting needle: 1 knit, 2 knit together, tilted to the left. Also on the 3rd knitting needle we knit the penultimate 2 stitches together with a knit stitch tilted to the right, the last one with a knit stitch. On the 2nd knitting needle: 1 knit, 2 knit together, tilted to the left. In each row until the loops run out. Cut the thread and hide it inside the sock. Wash socks.

How to knit socks with round heels.

A round heel is knitted on socks so as not to bandage the entire sock, but only a small part of it, if only the heel is leaky. For those who usually only have their heels rubbed.

Description.

We put the required number of loops on the knitting needles and knit an elastic band. Then we knit several rows in stockinette stitch. For now we knit, as always. All stitches are distributed evenly on 4 needles. What do we do next?

Next we take a waste thread, it will take about 30 cm. We knit 1 row with this waste thread on only 2 knitting needles. It turns out that we only knitted half a row. (In the photo this is a pink thread and it is only on one side. The second side is all blue.) We return to the place where the thread goes from the ball, pull the main thread tighter so that in the future a hole does not form in this place, and continue knitting the sock on the required length. When we have started the toe and secured the thread, we move on to knitting the heel.

How to knit a round heel.

Raise loops on both sides of the waste thread.

Unravel the pink thread. We don't need her anymore. We distribute all the loops onto 3 knitting needles (there are exactly as many of them now as there were). Why 3 spokes? This way we will be more comfortable. We will make roundings in 6 places, 2 on each knitting needle. We attach the thread from the ball. We will knit 5-6 rows in stockinette stitch in the round. If you see that there will still be a hole, pick up one loop from the broach. In the next row, knit it with a knit stitch and decrease by knitting 2 stitches together.

I knitted these socks for a child. In total I cast on 36 loops. For the heel I left 18 loops. On both sides, when I unraveled the pink thread, I picked up 1 loop, making 38 loops. In the next row I decreased these 2 stitches. There are 9 loops on each needle. I knitted 5 rows in stockinette stitch in the round. I made decreases through the row.

1 row. On each needle together the first 1+2 loops and 5+6.

2nd row. There are 7 knit needles on each needle.

3rd row. On each needle together the first 1+2 loops and 4+5.

4 row. There are 5 knit stitches on each needle.

5 row. On each knitting needle there are 1+2 and 3+4 together.

6th row. There are 3 knit stitches on each needle.

7th row. Each needle has 1 knit, 2 together.

Pull off the remaining 6 loops. Cut the thread. Hide the tip inside the sock. Pin.

These socks are knitted in 2 threads using sock needles No. 4

How to knit socks with knitting needles in a two-color pattern.

We will knit socks with a two-color pattern, knitting 2 rows in one color. If the pattern requires a different color, remove the loop of the desired color without knitting.

You will need: thin wool yarn of two colors: pink 30 g and green 50 g. Sock knitting needles No. 2.

Cast on 48 stitches on 2 knitting needles folded together. Distribute evenly across 3 or 4 knitting needles (as convenient to knit).

We knit with an elastic band *1 knit, 1 purl* 3-4 cm. My elastic on the front and back sides turned out different, I turned the sock inside out and continued knitting on the wrong side. You don't have to turn it inside out.

We knit even rows according to the pattern.

Then 2.5 cm with pink threads in stockinette stitch. Then 2-3 rows in green. And we begin to knit the heel. How the heel is knitted is described above.
